195°] UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS IO77 RELEASE OF FUNDS FOR BUILDINGS AND OTHER CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS (17) The Governor has approved the following releases of funds from appropriations made to the University of Illinois for 1949-1951 for buildings and other capital improvements: "For Permanent Improvements at Urbana-Champaign Additions to Power and Heating Plant and Remodeling of Existing Buildings" $127 535 Release No. 23 For improvements in the Noyes Laboratory of Chemistry: To complete installation of fume hoods which will reduce fire hazards $ To remove existing stairs and to complete installation of floor extension over the stair well Release No. 24 For construction of the building addition and erection of structural steel for the new turbine room of the Abbott Power Plant 8 000 4 535 12 535 115 000 These are partial releases from an appropriation of $1,215,000 of which $880,000 has been budgeted for additions to the Power Plant, $263,500 for re- • modeling of existing buildings. The Governor has previously released (Release No. 14) $137,465 for the construction of new stairways in the Noyes Laboratory. I recommend that the funds released be appropriated for the purposes specified. On motion of Mr. Livingston, these funds were appropriated as recommended, by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Fornof, Mr. Herrick, Mr. Hickman, Mrs. Holt, Mr. Livingston, Mr. McLaughlin, Dr. Meyer, Mr. Nickell, Mrs. Watkins, Mr. Williamson; no, none; not voting, Governor Stevenson.
