REVISION OF COMPENSATION PLAN AND CLASS SPECIFICATIONS FOR NONACADEMIC EMPLOYEES (3) The Director of Nonacademic Personnel has submitted a complete revision of the "University of Illinois Civil Service Compensation Plan and Index to Class Specifications for Nonacademic Employees, September, 1947." Practically all of the changes have been approved by the Board of Trustees from time to time, but the complete schedule should be presented to the Board for formal approval as a whole. In addition to the changes already approved by the Board, the following additional changes are recommended: in the M SubmiUed As Ind«ded Classification in June Revised Book Mechanical Engineer #350-500 $400-550 Structural Engineer 300-450 350-500 Supervisor Chicago Illini Center 140-200 175-250 Teacher Handicapped Children 175-250 Prevailing With the exception of these changes, the list in the front of the new book is exactly as previously approved by the Board. The following changes of title have been made: Old Tide New Title Assistant Purchasing Agent Assistant Director of Purchases Director of Outpatient Nurses Supervisor of Clinic Nurses Assistant Director of Assistant Supervisor of Clinic Outpatient Nurses Nurses The following new classifications have been added since any previous list of new classifications was submitted to the Board: Assistant to the Business Manager — Chicago $300-450 Assistant to the Director of Housing 275-400 Assistant Business Manager— Chicago 350-500 Executive Clerk, President's Office 265-350 Foreman, Garage (Galesburg) 200-280 Foreman, Janitor (Chicago) 225-315 Hanger Prevailing Housekeeper 120-160 Interviewer, Intake 175-250 Assistant Manager of Temporary Family Housing 250-325 Purchasing Agent (Branch or Division) 350-500 Supervisor, Intake 225-315 Supervisor of Sewing and Surgical Dressings 150-225 Supervisor of Linen Service 150-225 Supervisor of Urology Clinic 200-280 These new classifications are included in the list of salary ranges and in the printed class specifications. The first edition of this compensation plan and class specifications was published in January, 1945. The new edition represents a complete revision and brings the class specifications situation up to date, placing it on a current useful basis. Future revisions will, of course, be necessary as conditions in the University and outside employment change. I recommend that this be referred to the Committee on Civil Service and Employees.

Mr. Dickason commented on this matter. Mr. McLaughlin, for the Committee on Civil Service and Employees, recommended that the revision of the Compensation Plan and Index be approved as presented. On motion of Mr. McLaughlin, this recommendation was adopted.
