BOARD OF TRUSTEES

chemistry approximate $482,000, of which $56,327 has been expended and $150,000 has been transferred to the General Reserve Fund, leaving a balance of about $275,000 which is held in trust. A part of this may be claimed by the Government as a result of additional audits but in the opinion of the Comptroller it would be feasible and entirely appropriate to assign up to $100,000 from this source toward the construction and equipment of the new Chemistry Building. T h e Physical Plant Department and the Comptroller recommended that contracts be awarded to the lowest bidders in each of the respective categories, as follows, subject to reductions of $25,000 in construction work to be effected through change orders after contracts are drawn: John Felmley Co General contract work #982 400 W. T. Mahoney & Sons Plumbing work 375 683 The Carson-Payson Co Heating work 407 839 Hans Zack Co Ventilating and air conditioning work 220 000 Elevator Manufacturing Co. of America Elevator and dumbwaiter . . . . 23 640 Leverenz Electric Co Electrical work 179 980 T h e Comptroller further recommends that $100,000 of the funds accumulated under contracts with the United States Government for research work in chemistry be applied toward construction costs and equipment purchases for the new Chemistry Building, as above indicated. I concur.

On motion of Mr. McKelvey, these recommendations were approved and the appropriation was made, by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Fornof, Mrs. Holt, Mr. Livingston, Mr. McKelvey, Mr. McLaughlin, Mr. Nickell, Mr. Williamson; no, none; absent, Mr. Davis, Mr. Green, Dr. Luken, Dr. Meyer.
