tectural design. T h e amount of land available for this project, the open and rolling character of the country, and the relation of building requirements to farming and other out-of-door activities point to the desirability of such style of architecture. This firm is located not far from the D r u g Plant Experimental Station site. This will make it possible for them to give the project full attention during the construction stages. I concur in these recommendations.

On motion of Mr. McLaughlin, these contracts were authorized as recommended.

BUDGET FOR UNDERGRADUATE DIVISION AT GALESBURG, FISCAL YEAR 1 9 4 6 - 1 9 4 7 (2) The internal budget for the new Undergraduate Division of the University at Galesburg for the fiscal year beginning July I, 1946, and covering appointments for the academic year 1946-1947, is submitted herewith. The budget has been compiled by the Dean, with the assistance of the Business Manager of the Galesburg Division, on estimates supplied by the various educational officers and the general University offices represented there. It has been reviewed in detail by the Director of the Bureau of Institutional Research, who assisted actively in setting up the Division, and has been examined by the Provost and the Comptroller. The budget is summarized as follows: Recurring budget for regular operating expenses: Salaries and wages $ 835 215 Expense and equipment 152 202 Total $ 087 417 Nonrecurring expenditures for remodeling and equipment (this year only) 848 780 Grand Total $1 836 197 Estimated resources for this budget are as follows: Estimated income from student fees and compensation from U. S. Veterans Administration for veteran students 206 379 Special additional emergency appropriation from tax funds requested of the General Assembly $1 629 818 I recommend: 1. That this budget be approved. 2. That the President of the University be authorized to (a) make such changes or adjustments as are needed, (b) make such additional appointments as may become necessary, and (c) accept such resignations as are offered, as the needs of the division may indicate from time to time, all within the total of the budget as submitted. 3. That the Comptroller be authorized to pay out of funds presently appropriated by the General Assembly expenditures against this budget in anticipation of the additional income and special appropriations above indicated.

On motion of Mr. Nickell, this budget was approved as printed in the Appendix (page 235), and authority was granted as recommended. The appropriation was made by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Davis, Mr. Fornof, Mrs. Grigsby, Mr. Livingston, Mr. McKelvey, Mr. McLaughlin, Dr. Meyer, Mr. Nickell; no, none; absent, Mr. Green, Dr. Luken, Mr. Williamson.

FEDERAL FUNDS FOR FARM LABOR EXTENSION PROGRAM (3) Federal funds again have been made available for the F a r m Labor E x tension Program for the six-month period of January 1, 1947, to June 30, 1947, to be expended through the University Division of Agricultural Extension. T h e amount which has been made available for this period is $101,173, and provision
