5. The Women of Rotary, Chicago, $000 to be added to the Orthopaedic Gift Fund for Children. 6. Illinois Crop Improvement Association, $500 to the Department of Agronomy to help defray the cost of publishing the Corn Performance Bulletin. 7. Kappa Alpha Theta North Shore Junior Auxiliary, Chicago, $320 for the purchase of carts for the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery. 8. Miss Dorothy J. Dailey, Rockford, Illinois, $300 to help a deserving student. Miss Dailey while attending the University received this amount from the Wensel Morava Scholarship Fund, and while it was an outright grant, she is now returning this money to help another student. 9. Ladies' Auxiliary to the Illinois Rural Letter Carriers' Association, $279.25 for services to cancer patients. 10. Sigma of Chi Phi Memorial, $250 for the purchase of such books as may be needed by the Library. 11. Brook Hill Farms, Inc., Chicago, $100 for the renewal of a scholarship formerly known as the "Robert G. Morey Scholarship," but now to be known as the "Brook Hill Farms Scholarship." 12. Mr. Andrew M. Fairlie, Atlanta, Georgia, a portrait of his brother, the late Professor John A. Fairlie, for the Department of Political Science. 13. Fischer and Porter Company, Hatboro, Pennsylvania, a stabl-vis flowrator with six floats to the Department of Mechanical Engineering. 14. Sinai Temple of Champaign-Urbana, $50 to be awarded as a prize to an outstanding student in the School of Music. 15. Alumni of the College of Dentistry, $2,657 for the purchase of books and other literature in the special field of Oral Surgery for the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. 16. Mr. Philip K. Wrigley, Chicago, a Republic Seabee airplane to the Institute of Aeronautics. This craft was purchased by Mr. Wrigley recently for his personal use and is in good condition. Grants for Research 1. Prairie Farms Creamery, Champaign, $250 in support of a study by the Agricultural Experiment Station of the economic facts concerning the dairy industry in the Champaign-Urbana community. 2. Vio Bin Corporation, Monticello, $200 for research on antibiotics in the Department of Horticulture. 3. Socony-Vacuum Oil Company, New York City, $2,000 in continued support of a fellowship in chemistry during the academic year, 1048-1949. 4. Western Cartridge Company, East Alton, Illinois, $2,000 for the continuation of research in chemistry during the academic year, 1947-1948. 5. The Upjohn Company, Kalamazoo, Michigan, $1,461.60 for the renewal of the Upjohn Fellowship in Chemistry under the direction of Professor C. S. Vestling during the academic year, 1948-1949. 6. Abbott Laboratories, North Chicago, $1,200 in support of a postdoctoral fellowship in chemistry for a study of mariahuana-like compounds under the direction of Professor Roger Adams. 7. Monsanto Chemical Company, St. Louis, Missouri, $1,200 for the renewal of the Monsanto fellowship in chemistry during the academic year, 1948-1949, under the direction of Professor C. S. Marvel. 8. Illinois Clay Products Company, $2,200 in support of a fellowship in Ceramic Engineering during the period September 1, 1947, to June I, 1948. 9. Titanium Alloy Manufacturing Company, New York City, $2,000 in support of a fellowship in Ceramic Engineering during the year 1947-1948. 10. United States Public Health Service, National Institute of Health, $5,508 for a study of the isolation of cholecystokinin by Dr. A. C. Ivy, Vice President in charge of the Chicago Professional Colleges. 11. Mr. Roy G. Daum, East Chicago, Indiana, $250 for research in dementia praecox, to be added to the Psychiatry Fund in the College of Medicine. 12. A patient in the Research and Educational Hospitals, Chicago, $100 for research in the field of Somatoprosthesis in the College of Dentistry.
