125. Chicago Bridge and Iron Foundation, Chicago, $5,000 to the Department of Civil Engineering for research in the general field of welding. 126. Food Machinery and Chemical Corporation, Middleport, New York, $1,300 to the Department of Horticulture for the fruit fungicide program ($500) and the chemical thinning of trees ($800). 127. T h e Ford Foundation, New York, N e w York, $75,000 to the Institute for Research on Exceptional Children to further the practical utilization of behavioral science knowledge. The term of the grant will be five years and will be payable in five annual installments of $15,000 each. The first installment of $15,000 has been received. 128. Hoffman-LaRoche, Inc., Nutley, New Jersey, $4,000 to the Department of Animal Science for a grant-in-aid in the field of vitamin E and antioxidants. 129. Hooker Electrochemical Company, Niagara Falls, New York, $1,000 to the Department of Agronomy for research on weed control. 130. Illinois Farm Electrification Council, $112 to the College of Agriculture for the continuance of farm electrification research and educational work. 131. Eli Lilly and Company, Indianapolis, Indiana, $1,500 to the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering for research on triterpene and steroids. 137. Lipotropic Research Foundation, New York, New York, $2,500 to the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering for a study of intermediary metabolism of Myo-inositol and its derivatives. 138. Lumber Dealers Research Council, Pennington, New Jersey, $7,000 to the Small Homes Council for research. 139. Malting Barley Improvement Association, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, $200 to the Department of Agronomy for barley variety-fertilizer tests at Woodstock, Illinois. 140. Midwestern Universities Research Association, $10,979 to the Department of Physics for the work of M U R A on the Cosmotron development. 141. Mrs. C. National Livestock and Meat Board: a. $4,600 to the Department of Physiology for a study of the effects of a sustained diet of meat for one year on nitrogen, calcium, phosphorus, sodium, and potassium metabolism. b. $4,000 to the Department of Food Technology for a study of biological utilization of fatty acid isomers. 145. The National Project in Agricultural Communications, $950 to the College of Agriculture for a study of agricultural programming on commercial television stations in Illinois. 146. National Science Foundation, Washington, D.C., in support of the following research: a. $13,500 to the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering for research on metastable boiling, under the direction of Professor J. W. Westwater (Grant NSF-G593)b . $6,200 to the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering for research on alpha- and beta-amyrin triterpenes, under the direction of Professor Elias J. Corey (Grant NSF-G1826).
