I concur and recommend that the Comptroller and the Secretary of the Board be authorized to execute the necessary documents.

On motion of Mr. Nickell, this recommendation was approved and the Comptroller and the Secretary of the Board were authorized to execute the necessary documents.

CONTRACT FOR IMPROVEMENT O F MEDICAL CENTER STEAM PLANT COAL HANDLING EQUIPMENT (16) The Director of the Physical Plant and the Comptroller recommend a contract for $8,105 with the Link-Belt Company, Chicago, for additions to and improvements in the coal handling equipment in the Medical Center Steam Plant in Chicago. The work will consist of installation of equipment at coal transfer points to reclaim spilled coal, and a change in design will reduce by one employee the amount of labor required when coal is being hoisted. The original equipment was installed by the Link-Belt Company so that it is not feasible to secure competitive bids on the proposed changes. Since the Medical Center Steam Company does not have the technical staff to supervise the installation, it has requested the University to handle this contract. The University will be acting as an agent for the Medical Center Steam Company and will be reimbursed for all payments made under the contract. I concur and recommend that the Comptroller and the Secretary of the Board be authorized to execute this contract. O n m o t i o n of M r s .
