APPOINTMENTS TO THE FACULTY (2) The following new appointments to the faculty of the rank of Assistant Professor and above, and involving tenure, have been approved since the previous meeting of the Board of Trustees. 1. ALBERT CAROZZI, Visiting Assistant Professor of Geology, for a period of ten months from September I, 1955, at a salary of $5,500 ( G ) . 2. ALFRED L. ROWSE, George A. Miller Visiting Professor of History, for a period of four months from September 1, 1955, at a salary of $5,600 ( G ) . 3. LUCIA TOWER, Lecturer with rank of Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry, College of Medicine, beginning January 1, 1955, at an annual salary of $3,120 (DY25), O n m o t i o n of M r . J o h n s t o n , t h e s e a p p o i n t m e n t s w e r e c o n f i r m e d . LEAVE OF ABSENCE FOR DIRECTOR ROBERT B. DOWNS (3) Director Robert B. Downs of the Library and Library School has been asked by the Ford Foundation and the Government of Turkey to serve as library adviser to the latter and has requested a six months' leave of absence from March I, 1955, for this purpose. I have approved this leave, the first month to be with pay as the standard vacation allowance and five months from April 1 to be without pay. I have also approved recommendations from Director Downs that P r o fessor Leslie W . Dunlap, Associate Director of the Library for Public Service Departments, be appointed Acting Director of the Library and that Professor Harold Lancour, Associate Director of the Library School, be appointed Acting Director of the Library School, these appointments to be for six months from March 1, 1955, with additional compensation at the rate of $100 a month in each case. CHANGE IN ORGANIZATION OF T H E UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS CITIZENS COMMITTEE (4) The organization of the University of Illinois Citizens Committee now Provides that officers of the following organizations shall be ex officio members: Alumni Associations, including the alumni organizations of the Chicago Professional Colleges, the Dads Association, and the Mothers Association.
