Service: preliminary studies to investigate and evaluate flight characteristics of this aircraft with special equipment installed as specified 6 866 93 $83 751 93 Engineering and modifications of Aero Commander Model 680 airplane 29 877 75 This is an estimated figure based on hourly rates: engineering, $7.50; shop hours, $4.75; experimental flight hours, $25.00; and indirect costs, 26 per cent of all direct costs. Fixed fee for above services 2 987 78 This airplane is needed for one of the research programs of the Control Systems Laboratory. It will be delivered to the University for test flights for about three months and will then be transferred to the United States Army Signal Corps under its contract with the University for the research project. It is recommended that the aircraft and services be purchased from Aero Design and Engineering Company, Bethany, Oklahoma. Auto pilot and installation kit 16 756 00 To be used in conjunction with the above aircraft. It is recommended that this be purchased from Lear, Inc., Grand Rapids, Michigan. The auto pilot manufactured by this company is the only one which will meet the requirements of the scientists. The only other equipment which would meet requirements is almost twice as heavy and is more expensive. The cost of this equipment will be paid from funds received by the University under its contract with the United States Government covering the research project for which the equipment will be used. On motion of Mr. Livingston, these purchases were authorized. On motion of Mrs. Watkins, the Committee adjourned.

MEETING OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE J U N E 2 7 , 1 9 5 6 On call of the Chairman, a meeting of the Executive Committee was held in the Sheraton-Blackstone Hotel, Chicago, Illinois, on Wednesday, June 27, 1956, at 12:00 noon. Mr. H . B. Megran, Chairman, and Mr. P a r k Livingston were present; Mrs. Frances B. Watkins was absent. Also present were Mrs. Doris S. Holt, Messrs. Cushman B. Bissell, W i r t Herrick, Wayne A. Johnston, and Kenney E. Williamson, members of the Board; President David D. Henry, Provost Henning Larsen, Mr. Ralph F. Lesemann, Legal Counsel; and the officers of the Board, Messrs. H . O. Farber, Comptroller, C. W. Weldon, Treasurer, and A. J. Janata, Secretary of the Board. Purchase of Automobile Mr. Megran stated that with the concurrence of the Committee on Buildings and Grounds he had asked the Comptroller to secure quotations on a new automobile for the University's fleet of passenger cars to replace Vehicle No. 600, a 1952 Chrysler, eight-passenger sedan, which would soon require extensive and costly repairs to maintain it in satisfactory service. The Comptroller reported that twelve dealers in east central Illinois had been invited to submit quotations and that eight were received. T h e lowest quotation is from Parkhill Motor Sales, Champaign, on a 1956 eight-passenger Cadillac sedan, completely equipped according to University specifications, at a price of $7,088.35, with an allowance of $1,738.45 for the Chrysler, or a net price of $5,34990. On motion of Mr. Livingston, the Committee authorized the purchase of this automobile. On motion of Mr. Livingston, the Committee adjourned.
