REPORT ON PROGRESS OF AIRPORT CONSTRUCTION (17) A report from Professor J. J. Doland on the progress of construction of the University of Illinois Airport since November 29, 1944. Professor Doland recommends • that .the following arrangements for seeding the Airport be approved: (a) T h e C.A.A, will furnish 1,200 tons of agricultural limestone f.o.b. Airport on or before March 1, 1945. (b) T h e University will agree to spread the limestone on the area, and has made tentative arrangements to have this done for sixty cents a ton. T h e com^The land to be purchased is between the Airport and the U. S. Highway 45. Its purchase will give the University full control of both sides of the entrance road to the Airport. The acquisition of the land was discussed fully. It was suggested that a part of the area be landscaped, and that it could be used for buildings for the Army in a future emergency. The following resolution was adopted: "The Advisory Board on Aeronautics is in favor of steps being^ taken to insure that the entrance road be protected from encroachment of undesirable activities."
