The Comptroller commented on the details of the proposed budget. On motion of Mr. Davis, this budget (with the exception of an item of $50,000 for undergraduate scholarships) was approved as the tentative biennial budget for submission to the State Department of Finance.

REPORT O F FINANCE COMMITTEE M r . Davis, for t h e Finance Committee, presented t h e following report. On recommendation of investment counsel, t h e T r u s t Department of the First National Bank of Chicago, the Finance Committee has authorized the purchase of the following items as temporary investments of surplus cash of our Student Loan F u n d s : Oregon Short Line Railroad Consolidated first S's due July 1, 1046, at approximately io6yi. Oregon Short Line Railroad Consolidated first guaranteed 5's d u e July I, 1946, at approximately 1 0 6 ^ . Canadian Northern Railway Debenture 6 ^ ' s due July I, 1946, at approximately 109.
