T h e Director of the Division, with the approval of the Dean of Students, requests an additional nonrecurring appropriation for the following purposes, during the balance of this fiscal year: Wages $2 000 Expense 1 425 Total $3 42S T h e Comptroller concurs in this request. I recommend approval.

On motion of Mr. Davis, this appropriation was made as recommended, by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Davis, Mr. Fornof, Mrs. Grigsby, Mr. Livingston, Mr. McKelvey, Dr. Meyer; no, none; absent, Mr. Green, Dr. Luken, Mr. McLaughlin, Mr. Nickell, Mr. Williamson.

P H Y S I C S R E S E A R C H LABORATORY ELEVATOR (4) Bids were opened February 5, 1946, for elevator installation in the Physics Research Laboratory as follows: Warner Elevator Company, $8,694, plus $375 for automatic door operation. Otis Elevator Company, $6,522. T h e bid from the W a r n e r Elevator Company contained no certified check, and the Otis Elevator Company bid was qualified to indicate that the bid covered a standard design, which varied somewhat from specifications. T h e variations are acceptable to the University, and the Director of the Physical Plant recommends, with the concurrence of the Comptroller, that the Otis Elevator Company bid be accepted at the price indicated, which is within the preliminary estimate of cost. I recommend approval.

On motion of Mr. Fornof, this contract was awarded as recommended.

F E D E R A L EMERGENCY FARM LABOR B U D G E T (5) Federal funds again have been made available for the Emergency F a r m Labor P r o g r a m for the calendar year 1946 to be expended through the University Division of Agricultural Extension. T h e maximum amount which will be available for the year is $235,000, and the following budget is submitted covering estimated expenditures from January I to December 31, 1946: Salaries (including Supervisors, Assistant Supervisors, and clerical help in the central office; appointments to be approved by the President) $175 470 Wages (assistants and clerical help for County Farm Advisers and miscellaneous services) 7 730 Travel 26 700 Housing and transportation of workers 2 400 Other expense 22 700 Total $235 000 T h e foregoing budget has been submitted by H . P . Rusk, Dean of the College of Agriculture and Director of the Extension Service in Agriculture and H o m e Economics, and has been reviewed by the Comptroller. I recommend its approval subject to adjustment within the total.

On motion of Mr. McKelvey, this budget was approved and the funds appropriated as recommended, by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Davis, Mr. Fornof, Mrs. Grigsby, Mr. Livingston, Mr. McKelvey, Dr. Meyer; no, none; absent, Mr. Green, Dr. Luken, Mr. McLaughlin, Mr. Nickell, Mr. Williamson.
