BOARD OF TRUSTEES

[October 21

The increase over the previous estimate is due to the change in policy for supervising the recreational program in the Chicago departments. This will be under the Chicago Illini Union in the future and, therefore, the appropriation will be included in this budget instead of that of the School of Physical Education where it has been carried in the past. This amount, $1,750, was not included in the previous estimate. It is really a transfer of funds from one department to another. The amount of ¥6,263 has already been appropriated to the Physical Plant Department in the current budget for this purpose and, therefore, an additional appropriation of $4,462 may be needed. A reserve will, therefore, be set aside out of the General Reserve and ear-marked for the appropriation later if it is needed. I recommend the approval of the budget with this understanding.
