Society of Women Engineers April 20, 1967 7:00 P.Mo 165 Electrical Engineering Building

University of Illinois Student Section

The Student Section of the Society of Women Engineers met on April 20, 1967, at 7:00 P.M. at 165 Eleetrieal Engineering Building. The meeting was called to order by Lynn Granzow. The Secretary's report was read and approved as read. Old Business: Engineering Oouncil report: Next fall representatives from each society will be on the joint society meeting committees which will consist of teacher and course description and evaluation. Oouncil is investigating complaints about engineering mathematics. If it is too theoretical, there may be special sections for engineers. The Mechanical Engineering department is changing the curriculum. Chemistry for engineers may also be changed. Some undergraduate research opportunities are available in all fields. The Big Brother program for freshmen engineers will be instituted next year. Twenty dollars has been appropriated for the program. There will be a campaign for workers on April 28. Workers are needed to set up rules and regulations for choosing a teacher to receive an award for outstanding work. Oouncil wants to write a newsletter. There will be a combined society meeting on the first Thursday of each month next semester.
