986 BOARD OF T R U S T E E S [ J a n u a r y 15 MINUTES APPROVED T h e Secretary presented t h e minutes of the meeting of the Board of Trustees on M a y 15, 1963, press proof copies of which have previously been sent to the Board. O n motion of M r s . W a t k i n s , these minutes were approved as printed on pages 483 to 529, inclusive. APPOINTMENT OF T H E O D O R E A. JONES TO T H E BOARD OF TRUSTEES President H o w a r d W . Clement announced that Governor Otto Kerner on December 20, 1963, appointed M r . Theodore A . Jones to be a member of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois, to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Judge Richard A. Harewood, now a Judge of the Superior Court of Cook County, for the term expiring in March, 1965. 1 M r . Clement introduced M r . Jones, who took his place with the Board. COMMITTEE APPOINTMENTS Mr. Clement appointed M r . Jones to the following standing committees: Athletic Activities, Buildings and Grounds, General Policy, Patents, and Student W e l f a r e and Activities ( C h a i r m a n ) to serve until the annual meeting of the Board in March, 1964, or until successors to standing committees have been appointed. BUSINESS PRESENTED BY T H E PRESIDENT OF T H E UNIVERSITY T h e Board took up consideration of the following reports a n d recommendations from the President of the University. PRESIDENT'S REPORT President H e n r y presented a report on selected topics of current interest, copies of which were distributed at the meeting, and a copy was filed with the Secretary of the Board.
