APPOINTMENT O F ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR O F T H E EXTENSION SERVICE IN AGRICULTURE A N D HOME ECONOMICS

(J) On recommendation of the Dean of the College of Agriculture and Director of the Extension Service in Agriculture and Home Economics, and with the concurrence of the Vice-President and Provost and the President of the University, the Executive Committee of the Board approved the appointment of Dr. John B. Claar, formerly Farm Representative for the Administrator of the Federal Extension Service in the United States Department of Agriculture, as Associate Director of the Extension Service in Agriculture and Home Economics, with the rank of Professor, for one year beginning September 1, 1960, at a salary of $16,000 (on "V" basis). Reappointment will be on the standard triennial tenure for administrative officers. This appointment is to replace^ Professor William G. Kammlade as Associate Director of the Extension Service in Agriculture and Home Economics and State Leader of Farm Advisers, who retired September 1, 1960. It was not feasible to secure all clearances and commitments necessary to present the recommendation to the Board of Trustees at its July meeting. Since it was important to fill the position beginning September 1, the recommendation was submitted to the Executive Committee for approval, and was simultaneously reported to the other members of the Board. On motion of M r , Hughes, this appointment was confirmed.
