sional Colleges Senate concurring, that the Department of Clinical Science be discontinued upon Dr. Ivy's retirement so that the space it has been occupying and the other facilities it has been using can be assigned to other departments of the College. This recommendation is reflected in the College budget for 1961-62 in that no provision for the Department is included and its staff is assigned to other departments. Dr. Ivy's request has now received due consideration by the Executive Committee of the College of Medicine and the appropriate University officials having administrative responsibility for the decision in such matters. Under these recommendations, Dr. Ivy would become Distinguished Professor of Physiology, Emeritus, in the Departmeut of Physiology, and the Department of Clinical Science would be discontinued, such functions as remain being transferred to other departments of the College. In a letter addressed to Vice-President Begando of the Chicago Professional Colleges on July 18, 1961, Dr. Ivy presented the following requests: (a) "That the Department of Clinical Science be continued for one year from September 1, 1961, through August 31, 1962, and that the 'necessary facilities now had ami needed' be provided"; (b) that a budget for the Department of Clinical Science be provided in the amount either of $21,601 (including $1.00 for Dr. Ivy's salary plus his retirement annuity) or of $40,101 (including Dr. Ivy's full salary of $18,500). After some discussion, it was agreed by the Executive Committee of the Board that Dr. Ivy's letter should be referred to the Executive Committee of the College of Medicine for consideration, and that the latter Committee's recommendations concerning Dr. Ivy's requests should be reviewed by the appropriate administrative officers in relation to the budget requests submitted by the College of Medicine. Vice-President Begando referred Dr. Ivy's letter to Associate Dean D. JCaseley of the College of Medicine (acting in Dean Granville A. Bennett's absence), with tbe request that it be considered by the Executive Committee of ttef College and that recommendations be made concerning Dr. Ivy's requests.
