T h e Secretary presented t h e minutes of t h e meeting of t h e Board of Trustees on July 26, 1960, press proof copies of which had previously been sent to the Board. On motion of M r . Johnston, t h e minutes were approved as printed on pages 1 to 88, inclusive.

HEARING O F CHICAGO COMMUNITY REPRESENTATIVES ON CHICAGO UNDERGRADUATE DIVISION SITE

President Williamson informed the Board that representatives of the Garfield P a r k and of the H a r r i s o n - H a l sted Streets communities were present, requesting permission to be heard by t h e Board. O n motion of M r . Harewood, permission was granted. M r , S a m K . Levin, President of t h e Garfield P a r k Chamber of Commerce, a n d M r . Gordon L . Matson, Chairman of t h e United P r o p e r t y Group of t h e Garfield P a r k community, addressed the Board, pleading for t h e selection of Garfield P a r k as t h e site for the University's Chicago U n d e r g r a d u a t e Division. M r . A r t h u r Velazquez, representing t h e Parish a n d Church of St. F r a n c i s of Assisi, 813 W e s t Roosevelt R o a d , Chicago, Tead a statement requesting that t h e Board not select t h e H a r r i s o n - H a l s t e d Streets area as t h e site because of t h e dislocation of residents a n d business establishments in t h e area which would result. M r . E d w a r d J. Rosewell, President of t h e Garfield P a r k Improvement Association, also addressed t h e Board in support of t h e selection of Garfield P a r k . T r a n s c r i p t s of these four statements were taken and are filed with the Secretary of the Board. President Williamson thanked the speakers for their presentations, BUSINESS PRESENTED BY T H E PRESIDENT OF T H E UNIVERSITY T h e Board took u p consideration of t h e following reports a n d recommendations from t h e President of the University.

AWARD O F CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANT CERTIFICATES

(1) The Committee on Accountancy recommends that the certificate of Certified Public Accountant be awarded to the following candidates who passed the standard written examination given in November, 1960, and who have fulfilled all other legal requirements under Sections 1, 2, and 3 of the Illinois Accountancy Act »:• 1943 as amended:
