CURRICULUM IN AVIATION ELECTRONICS (10) The Urbana-Champaign Senate has approved a proposal from the Institute of Aviation for an aviation electronics curriculum designed for technical education and training leading to a certificate of completion in electronic technology and an advanced FCC Radio-Telephone license. A supporting memorandum giving the details of this program is submitted herewith and a copy is being filed with the Secretary of the Board for record. T h e Senate Coordinating Council indicates that no other Senate jurisdiction is involved. I recommend approval, subject to further action by the Board of Higher Education. O n m o t i o n of M r . CURRICULUM IN GENETICS (11) The Urbana-Champaign Senate recommends adoption of a new graduate program in genetics, proposed by the School of Life Sciences and the Graduate College, leading to the degree of Doctor of Philosophy. A supporting memorandum giving the details of this program, including the requirements for admission and for the degree, is submitted herewith and a copy is being filed with the Secretary of the Board for record. The Senate Coordinating Council indicates that no other Senate jurisdiction is involved. I recommend approval, subject to further action by the Board of Higher Education. O n m o t i o n of M r . DEGREE PROGRAMS IN COMPARATIVE LITERATURE (12) The Urbana-Champaign Senate has approved proposals from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and the Graduate College for degree programs in comparative literature leading to the degrees of Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy, designed to make possible a systematic study of subjects and problems common to several literatures, and to enable students who have greater than average linguistic competence and preparation to explore the interrelations of several modern literatures; the main currents, periods, and movements in modern European literary history; and the theory of literature and criticism. A supporting memorandum giving the details of this program, including the requirements for admission and for the degree, is submitted herewith and a copy is being filed with the Secretary of the Board for record. DISCONTINUANCE OF ASSOCIATE IN ARTS CERTIFICATE (13) The Urbana-Champaign Senate has approved a recommendation from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and its Division of General Studies that the certificate of Associate in Arts now available, upon application, to students who have successfully completed sixty hours of academic work be discontinued because of lack of interest.
