FRITZ, THOMAS E., Instructor in Veterinary Pathology and Hygiene (College of Veterinary Medicine) and in Veterinary Research (Agricultural Experiment S t a t i o n ) — l e a v e of absence, without pay, from February 1 through July 31, 1962, for services to the State Department of Agriculture, in its Diagnostic Laboratory. HUFFNAGLE, M R S . MADELINE A., Research Assistant in Zoology — leave of absence, without pay, from January 29 through April 30, 1962. PLANTY, EARL G., Professor of Management — leave of absence, without pay, during the second semester of 1962-63, so that he may serve as a Distinguished Visiting Professor at the University of Southern California during the period. SWAGO, ANDREW W., Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering—extension of leave of absence, without pay, for one year from September 1, 1962, so that he may continue as Assistant Program Director for Engineering Sciences for the National Science Foundation.

CANCELLATION OF SABBATICAL LEAVE OF ABSENCE

BOURGIN, DAVID G., Professor of Mathematics — cancellation of sabbatical leave of absence, on one-half pay, for the second semester of the current academic year. REPRESENTATIVES OF ENGINEERING OPEN HOUSE

At this point, President Henry announced that representatives of the Engineering Open House had been invited to the meeting as guests of the Board and introduced: Mr. Ralph Gilbert, Senior in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering, General Chairman of the Engineering Open House; Professor James P. Neal of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Chairman of the Exhibits and Tours Committee of the College of Engineering; and Professor E. C. McClintock, Jr., of the Department of General Engineering. Mr. Gilbert addressed the Board on the history, the organization, and the significance of Engineering Open House. Mr. Neal and Mr. McClintock also spoke briefly. In the afternoon, following adjournment of the Board and the inspection tour of the campus, several members of the Board visited the Engineering Open House exhibits.

DIRECTOR MARK P. HALE

President Henry introduced Dr. Mark P. Hale, Professor of Social Work and Director of the Jane Addams Graduate School of Social Work, who addressed the Board briefly on the program of the school.

MAY MEETING

On motion of Mr. Swain, the Board voted to change the date of the May meeting from the third Wednesday to Thursday, May 24, to be held in Urbana. On motion of Mr. Hughes, the Board adjourned.

COMMITTEE MEETINGS

Meetings of the Committees on General Policy and Buildings and Grounds were held in the afternoon following adjournment.
