GIFT O F A I R P L A N E (11) T h e General Motors Corporation has given the University of Illinois an eight-passenger Lockheed Lodestar executive-equipped airplane for the Institute of Aviation. T h e gift is without restrictions. I have accepted it and report this action for record. The Lodestar has a cruising speed of 220 miles an hour, is fully equipped for instrument flying, and will be used for instruction and for demonstrations in aerodynamics, heavy aircraft hydraulics, electronics, and navigation equipment. It will be added to the University's planes available for use in the transportation of teachers to extension courses throughout Illinois and for other personnel in flights on University business. T h e base of operations will be the University of Illinois Willard Airport.

On motion of Mr. Swain, the President's action was confirmed, and the Secretary was requested to express to the appropriate officials of General Motors Corporation the appreciation of the Trustees.
