AWARD O F CERTIFIED PUBLIC ACCOUNTANT CERTIFICATES (1) T h e Committee on Accountancy recommends that the certificate of Certified Public Accountant be awarded, under Section 5 of the Accountancy Act of 1943, as amended, to the following candidates who have presented evidence that they are holders of valid and unrevoked Certified Public Accountant certificates obtained by passing a standard written examination in another state or territory of the United States and who qualify in all other respects under this provision Name ARTHUR HAROLD ADELMAN

APPOINTMENTS TO THE FACULTY (2) T h e following new appointments to the faculty of the rank of Assistant Professor and above, and involving tenure, have been approved since the previous meeting of the Board of Trustees. 1. WERNER R. FLEISCHER, Clinical Assistant Professor of Pathology, College of Medicine, beginning November 1, 1961, without salary ( D Y ) . 2. WILLIAM J. GILLESBY, Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery, College of Medicine, beginning November 1, 1961, without salary ( D Y ) . 3. HERBERT GOLDHOR, Professor of Library Science and Associate Director of the Graduate School of Library Science, beginning January 1, 1962, at an annual salary of $15,400 ( A Y , B Y ) . 4. HOWARD KARP, Assistant Professor of Music, beginning September 1, 1962, at an annual salary of $8,800 ( D ) . 5. JACK H . PARKER, Visiting Professor in the Department of Spanish and Italian, for the second semester, 1961-62, at a salary of $7,500 ( E ) . 6. GLENDA LUCILLE PIFER, Assistant Professor of Home Economics Extension, beginning November 15, 1961, at an annual salary of $8,200 ( D Y ) . O n m o t i o n of M r . S w a i n , t h e s e a p p o i n t m e n t s w e r e c o n f i r m e d . TUITION WAIVERS (3) T h e Executive Vice-President and Provost recommends the authorization of up to thirty-five tuition waivers each semester to be assigned to new or continuing undergraduate students who satisfy the Dean of Admissions and Records that they are now qualified, and will, at the end of the current semester or current school year, be candidates for regular scholarships or grants-in-aid. T h e waivers are to be awarded by the Dean of Admissions and Records to avoid injustice or inequity, or in hardship situations, to students who might be forced to remain out of the University if this assistance should not be provided. Such waivers would be for one semester or one year and no student would be eligible for more than two semesters waiver of tuition. I concur. O n m o t i o n of M r .
