that the Comptroller and the Secretary be authorized to execute and deliver upon behalf of the University the necessary release of the University's claims against Warren, all subject to release by the Governor out of funds appropriated to the University for the construction of the Hospital Addition of the sum of $81,042.07 for payment to Warren. I concur. O n m o t i o n of M r . J o h n s t o n , t h i s s e t t l e m e n t w a s a u t h o r i z e d , as recommended. EASEMENT TO ILLINOIS BELL TELEPHONE COMPANY (22) The Illinois Bell Telephone Company has requested an easement for an underground telephone cable installation across University properties at 502 and 508 East John Street, Champaign. All University officers concerned recommend that this request be granted and I concur. T o implement this easement, the following resolution should be adopted: Resolution Be It, and It Hereby Is Resolved by this Board of Trustees of The Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois, a public corporation of the State of Illinois, that the Comptroller and the Secretary of this Board of Trustees be, and they hereby are, authorized to execute, acknowledge, and deliver in the name and on behalf of this Corporation such instruments of conveyance, contract, or other document or documents as to them may seem necessary or desirable in order to grant to Illinois Bell Telephone Company, an Illinois corporation, hereinafter referred to as "Grantee," its successors and assigns, the right and easement to lay, operate, and maintain a communications cable for the transmission of telephonic signals under and through the land hereinafter described and the right of ingress to and egress therefrom. Grantee shall agree to repair any damage to property of this Corporation by the laying, construction, reconstruction, operation, maintenance, renewal, or removal of said cable, and Grantee shall further agree to relocate said cable at its expense if and when said cable would interfere with any construction undertaken by this Corporation during the term of the rightof-way easement to be hereunder granted. T h e right-of-way easement shall terminate ninety (90) days after Grantee ceases to use said transmission line for rendition of service. T h e right-of-way easement shall be over the followingdescribed property. The North Three (3) feet of Lot Ten (10) in Block Eleven (11) in Assessor's Subdivision of Blocks Ten (10), Eleven (11) and Fourteen (14) of J. S. Wright's Addition to Champaign, in Champaign County, Illinois; and The North Three (3) feet of Lot Seven (7) of J. I. Groves' Replat of Lots Seven (7) and Eight (8) in Block Eleven (11) in the Assessor's Subdivision of Blocks Ten (10), Eleven (11), and Fourteen (14) of J. S. Wright's Addition to Champaign, situated in the County of Champaign, and State of Illinois. O n m o t i o n of M r . S w a i n , t h e f o r e g o i n g r e s o l u t i o n w a s a d o p t e d . PRESIDENT'S REPORT ON SELECTED TOPICS OF CURRENT INTEREST (23) President Henry stated that for some time he has felt the need to bring to members of the Board of Trustees, with some regularity, a brief report of significant current events and other items of interest so that the members have this additional means to an overview of campus happenings and educational achievements. Each subject will be in capsule form. Should any particular subject be of special interest to anyone, a more complete dossier of information can be made available. H e presented a report on the following topics: University fifth in total degrees, future teachers in professional semester, Professor George White honored, distinguished graduate returns, mathematics program continued.
