and competency in their respective fields. No one to whom a leave of absence with pay has been granted shall be permitted while on such leave to accept remunerative employment or engage in professional practice or work for which he receives pecuniary compensation. This prohibition, however, shall not be construed to forbid a faculty member while on leave from giving a limited number of lectures or doing a limited amount of other work. But in such cases the approval of the chancellor Pnaidcnt to the giving of the lectures or the doing of other work shall be required. Nor shall the prohibition be interpreted to forbid the acceptance by a faculty member, while on leave, of a scholarship or fellowship carrying a stipend for purpose of study, research, or scientific investigation, or the acceptance of a grant of money made for such purposes, provided the acceptance of the grant does not impose on die recipient duties and obligations the performance of which would be incompatible with the pursuit of the general purpose for which leaves of absence are granted. (f) The President shall establish regulations and procedures necessary for the administration of these provisions, and he is authorised to make appropriate adjustments in the terms of leave with pay to insure equitable benefits for -members of the faculty in exceptional cases where special consideration is warranted. I recommend final approval of Section 40 as revised.

On motion of Mr. Grimes, this recommendation and the proposed revision of Section 40 of the University Statutes were approved by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Clement, Mr. Grimes, Mr. Hahn, Mr. Hughes, Mr. Johnston, Mr. Pogue, Mr. Swain, Dr. Weatherly; no, none; absent, Mr. Jones, Governor Kerner, Mr. Page.

SUMMER SPEECH CLINICS (14) The Director of the Division of Services for Crippled Children and the Chancellor at the Medical Center recommend that the Division be authorized to continue speech clinics during the summer of 1967 at the following institutions on a reimbursable cost basis: Estimated Cost Augustana College, Rock Island $15 520 00 Northern Illinois University, DeKalb 30 855 00 Southern Illinois University, Carbondale 11 845 00 Illinois State University, Normal 17 065 00 $75 285 00 A similar clinic at the University of Illinois at Urbana $15 464 00 Funds are available in the budget of the Division of Services for Crippled Children. I concur.

On motion of Mr. Clement, authority was given as requested.

APPROPRIATIONS FOR NONRECURRING EXPENDITURES, URBANA (15) The Executive Vice-President and Provost and the Vice-President and Comptroller recommend the following appropriations for Urbana-Champaign from: Urbana-Champaign General Reserve College of Fine and Applied Arts University of Illinois Bands, partial cost of band uniforms Office of the Chancellor and Associated Offices, furniture, office equipment, and supplies Total, Urbana-Champaign General Reserve Contract Research Reserve Renovation and remodeling for which funds are assigned to t h e Physical Plant Department: Partial cost of construction of a mechanical equipment room in the Nuclear Reactor Laboratory for the Nuclear Engineering Program Total, Contract Research Reserve Grand Total I concur.
