MEETING OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES

OF THE

UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS

December 8, 1 9 6 6

The December meeting of The Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois was held in the Chicago Circle Center, Chicago, Illinois, on Thursday, December 8, 1966, beginning at 10:30 a.m. President Howard W. Clement called the meeting to order and asked the Secretary to call the roll. The following members of the Board were present: Mr. Howard W. Clement, Mr. Irving Dilliard, Mr. Earl M. Hughes, Mr. Theodore A. Jones, Mr. Harold Pogue, Mr. Timothy W. Swain, Mrs. Frances B. Watkins, Mr. Kenney E. Williamson. Mr. Wayne A. Johnston, Governor Otto Kerner, and Mr. Ray Page were absent. Trustees-elect Donald R. Grimes and James A. Weatherly attended as guests. Also present were President David D. Henry; Executive VicePresident and Provost Lyle H. Lanier; Chancellor Norman A. Parker, University of Illinois at Chicago Circle; Chancellor Joseph S. Begando, University of Illinois at the Medical Center; Mr. C. S. Havens, Director of the Physical Plant; Mr. C. E. Flynn, Assistant to the President and Director of Public Information; Mr. James J. Costello, Legal Counsel; Mr. Eldon Johnson, Vice-President of the University; Mr. Vernon L. Kretschmer, Associate Director of the Physical Plant; Mr. Glenn Terrell, Dean of Faculties, Chicago Circle; Mr. James B. Holderman, Assistant to the Chancellor, Chicago Circle; Mr. R. C. Wicklund, Staff Associate in the Board of Trustees Office and Assistant Secretary of the University; Mr. Donald C. Neville, Assistant to the Director of the Physical Plant; and the officers of the Board, Mr. R. R. Manchester, Treasurer; Mr. H. O. Farber, Comptroller; and Mr. Earl W. Porter, Secretary. 267
