HEADSHIP OF DEPARTMENT OF GEOLOGY, URBANA

(4) The Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Urbana recommends the appointment of Dr. Fred A. Donath, presently on the staff of Columbia University, as Professor of Geology on indefinite tenure and Head of the Department beginning January 1, 1967, at an annual salary of $20,000, divided: $18,000 as P r o fessor of Geology, and $2,000 as Head of the Department of Geology, on an academic year service basis. This appointment is to succeed Professor George W. White who asked to be relieved of his administrative duties as Head of the Department as of September 1, 1965. In the meantime, Professor Carleton A. Chapman has been serving and will continue to serve as Acting Head of the Department until January 1, 1967. Professor Donath was nominated by a search committee, 1 and his appointment is endorsed by the Executive Committee of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the Dean of the Graduate College, and the Executive Vice-President and Provost. I recommend approval. O n m o t i o n of M r . J o h n s t o n , t h i s a p p o i n t m e n t w a s a p p r o v e d . OFFICE OF PUBLICATIONS AND OFFICE OF AGRICULTURAL COMMUNICATIONS, COLLEGE OF AGRICULTURE, URBANA (5) The Dean of the College of Agriculture recommends changes in administrative organization within his office relating to publications and agricultural communications. Two new offices are proposed: an Office of Publications and an Office of Agricultural Communications. The new organizational pattern does not involve new programs, nor are any new functions or duties involved. The intent of the changes proposed is to improve the efficiency of present services and facilitate the orderly growth and development of the work of the College in publications and communications. The Dean of the College of Agriculture further recommends the following appointments: A. W. Janes, presently Editor with the rank of Associate Professor, as Head of the Office of Publications with rank of Associate Professor; and Hadley Read, presently Extension Editor and Professor of Agricultural Extension, as Head of the Office of Agricultural Communications, Assistant Director of the Cooperative Extension Service in Agriculture, and Professor of Agricultural Extension. The Executive Vice-President and Provost concurs in these administrative changes and appointments. I recommend approval.

On motion of Mr. Hughes, these recommendations were approved.

COLLEGE OF PHARMACY ADVISORY COMMITTEE (6) The Dean of the College of Pharmacy and the Chancellor at the Medical Center campus recommend the appointment of Ned Harris, General Sales Manager of the Geller Drug Company, Chicago, to the College of Pharmacy Advisory Committee for a term ending June 30, 1971. Mr. Harris will replace Mr. Milton S. Prizant of Chicago, whose term has expired. I concur. O n m o t i o n of M r . W i l l i a m s o n , t h i s a p p o i n t m e n t w a s a p p r o v e d . NEW CURRICULUM PLAN, SCHOOL OF SOCIAL WORK, URBANA (7) The faculty of the Jane Addams Graduate School of Social Work has developed, and the Executive Vice-President and Provost has approved, a new cur1 L.
