BOARD OF TRUSTEES

On motion of Mr. Clement, the committee recommended that the Board approve these changes at the annual meeting of the Board.

DEANSHIP OF STUDENT AFFAIRS. CHICAGO CIRCLE (5) The Chancellor at the Chicago Circle campus has recommended the appointment of Oscar Miller, Acting Dean of Student Affairs since September 1, 1969, as Dean of Student Affairs, beginning March 1, 1970, on a twelve-month service basis, at an annual salary of $23,000. H e will continue to hold the rank of Associate Professor of Economics on indefinite tenure. The appointment will fill the vacancy which was created by the resignation of Dean Robert E. Corley. The recommendation is made after consultation with the staff of the Office of Student Affairs, the Deans' Council, the Administrative Council, and a special consultative committee. 1 The Executive Vice President and Provost endorses this recommendation. APPOINTMENTS TO T H E FACULTY (6) The following new appointments to the faculty of the rank of Assistant Professor and above, and involving tenure, have been approved since the previous meeting of the Board of Trustees. Positions in the University are classified in the following categories and are designated in the budget by the symbols indicated: A — indefinite tenure; P — indefinite term appointment for part-time service only; B — two years; D — one year; E — nine months from the beginning of the academic year; G — special tenure; Q — initial term appointment for Professor or Associate Professor; T — terminal appointment, accompanied with or preceded by notice of non-reappointment; W — one-year appointment subject to special written agreement; Y — twelve month's service required instead of two semesters; and X — percentages opposite X are for the academic year — full-time summer service is indicated by " S " ; 1-7 — indicates the number of years of service which will be credited at the end of the contract period toward completion of the probationary period relating to tenure. Figures following a symbol indicate percentage of time if the appointment is on a part-time basis (e.g., D75 means one year on three-fourths time). C h i c a g o Circle 1. DOROTHY L. D E BOER, Associate Professor of Special Education, beginning September 1, 1969 ( Q ) , at an annual salary of $14,500. 2. CHAYA ROTH, Assistant Professor of Counseling, Student Counseling Service, on one-half time, beginning December IS, 1969 (DYS0), at an annual salary of $7,500. 3. WILLIAM M. SUKEL, Assistant Professor of Management, College of Business Administration, beginning January 1, 1970 (1), at an annual salary of $13,000. Medical C e n t e r 4. DARIO GIACOMONI, Assistant Professor of Microbiology, College of Medicine, beginning January 1, 1970 (1Y), at an annual salary of $13,750. 5. WILLIAM G. SHIPMAN, Assistant Professor of Oral Surgery, College of Dentistry, on one-fifth time, beginning March 1, 1970 (DY20), at an annual salary of $3,500. 6. MILES STANDISH, Assistant Professor of Physiology, College of Medicine, beginning February 1, 1970 (1Y), at an annual salary of $14,000.
