REVISION OF UNDERGRADUATE HEALTH EDUCATION C U R R I C U L U M , URBANA (6) The Urbana-Champaign Senate has approved a recommendation from the College of Physical Education that the undergraduate major curriculum in health education be revised to permit options in school safety education and public safety education to be offered. Both options would lead to the same degree : Bachelor of Science in Health and Safety Education. The proposed requirements are the same for students in the freshman and sophomore years as those for the presently offered options in school health education and in community health education. During the junior and senior years, the proposed options will provide students with greater specialization and place greater emphasis on the behavioral sciences. Students electing the school health education or the school safety education option must meet teacher education requirements applicable to all curricula and also complete one teacher education minor. Students electing the community health education or the public safety education option are required to take a field work course during their junior or senior year. The Chancellor at the Urbana campus and the Executive Vice President and Provost endorse this recommendation.
