New Programs Chicago Circle Campus. A major program of research and development in urban education is proposed, with broad interdisciplinary participation. New instructional proposals include: seven doctoral programs for the training of college teachers (biology, engineering, English, German, physics, psychology, sociology); undergraduate and graduate programs in special education and teacher education for community colleges; the establishment of two new departments (Classics, Slavic Languages). Medical Center Campus. The funds requested would enable the University to take major steps towards the implementation of the recommendations in the Report on Education in the Health Fields— including the expansion of medical enrollment, and the establishment of regional clinical centers, a Graduate School of Public Health, and a curriculum in medical dietetics. Urbana-Champaign Campus. The new instructional proposals include: the initiation of formal medical education in 1970-71, in response to the Report on Education in the Health Fields; and three new doctoral programs (geophysics, social work, urban planning).
