JOSEF PATKOWSKI, Visiting Associate, for the academic year, to work on certain compositional ideas and aspects of sound synthesis in the Experimental Music Studio. K. L. RINEHART, JR., Professor of Chemistry, for the academic year, to undertake research in high resolution mass spectrometry, and to prepare for publication the results of research in various areas of organic chemistry. P. W. SCHROEDER, Professor of History, for the second semester and the summer of 1970, to further his research for a study of the European diplomatic system in the nineteenth century. W. H . SHOEMAKER, Professor and Head of the Department of Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese, for the academic year, to write a book on The Novelistic Art of Benito Peres Galdos. LUITPOLD WALLACH, Professor of the Classics, for the academic year, to produce a critical edition of Charlemagne's Libri Carolini.

On motion of Mr. Hahn, these appointments were approved.
