SHWAYDER, DAVID S., Professor of Philosophy in the Department of Philosophy, for the first semester, to bring to completion two books which approach metaphysical problems from the point of view of the relation of language and reality and the nature of communication as behavior. VELAN, YVES, Professor of French in the Department of French, for the first semester, to complete his second novel, which replaces the traditional protagonist with the thinking process itself.
