CHANGE IN ORGANIZATION O F THE DEPARTMENT O F ANTHROPOLOGY A N D APPOINTMENT O F A C H A I R M A N , CHICAGO CIRCLE (9) T h e members of the Department of Anthropology at the Chicago Circle campus of professorial rank have voted to request a change in departmental organization from that of a department with a head to that of a department with a chairman. The Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences has recommended to the Chancellor at the Chicago Circle campus the appointment of Associate P r o fessor Robert Leonard Hall, presently Acting Head of the Department, as Chairman of the Department of Anthropology, on an academic year service basis, at an annual salary of $18,200. The appointment will become effective February 1, 1971, and will continue through August 31, 1973. Professor Hall will continue to hold the rank of Associate Professor of Anthropology on indefinite tenure. The nomination of Professor Hall for the chairmanship of the Department is supported by a consultative committee 1 and by the faculty of the Department. The Chancellor and the Dean of the Graduate College have approved these recommendations. The Executive Vice President and Provost concurs. I recommend approval. O n m o t i o n of M r . G r i m e s , t h e c h a n g e i n o r g a n i z a t i o n w a s a u t h o rized a n d the appointment was approved. CHAIRMANSHIP O F THE DEPARTMENT O F EDUCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY, URBANA (10) T h e Dean of the College of Education has recommended to the Chancellor at Urbana-Champaign the appointment of Dr. Martin L, Maehr, presently P r o fessor of Educational Psychology and Acting Chairman of the Department, as Professor on indefinite tenure and Chairman of the Department of Educational Psychology beginning the second semester of the current academic year 1970-71, on an academic year service basis, at an annual salary of $16,750. Dr. Maehr will succeed D r . R. Stewart Jones who asked to be relieved of his administrative assignment. T h e nomination of Dr. Maehr is made with the advice of a search committee' and endorsed by the Executive Committee of the Department. The nomination is supported by the Dean of the Graduate College. The Chancellor at Urbana-Champaign approves the recommendation. ACTING DEANSH1P OF T H E COLLEGE O F COMMERCE AND BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION, URBANA (11) The Chancellor at the Urbana-Champaign campus has recommended that Dr. Vernon K. Zimmerman, presently Professor of Accountancy, Associate Director of International Programs and Studies, and Director of the Center for International Education and Research in Accounting, be appointed Acting Dean of the College of Commerce and Business Administration effective February 1, 1971, and continuing through August 31, 1971, or until a dean is appointed, on a twelve-month service basis at a salary of $32,300.
