CHANGE IN ALUMNI ASSOCIATION A N D GENERAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE PERSONNEL (3) Mr. Deneen Watson has resigned as President of the University of Illinois Alumni Association and Mr. C. C. Larson, First Vice President, has succeeded him as President. T h e officers of the Alumni Association are ex officio members of the University of Illinois General Advisory Committee; the Association's past president is also on its Board of Directors until there is another past president. Therefore, Dean G M. Thompson is no longer a member of the General Advisory Committee since Mr. Watson is now a past president.

LEAVES OF ABSENCE (4) A recommendation that the following leaves of absence be granted members of the staff for the reasons and periods and under the conditions indicated in each case, which are in accordance with the regulations of the Board governing such leaves: VIRGIL R. FLEMING, Assistant Professor of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics, leave during the first half of the academic year 1943-1944 on full pay on account of ill health. His work is being carried on without additional expense to the University. ALICE S. MICHALAK, Assistant Clerk-Stenographer in the Research and Educational Hospitals, Dietary Department, sick leave without pay from October 14 to December 9, 1943. (Miss Michalak has been employed by the University since December 19, 1942, but since the period of disability was less than sixty days, she is not eligible for benefits from the Retirement System.) W. J. WEBER, Painter in the Physical Plant Department, sick leave with pay for the period December 1 through 31, 1943. M R S . A N N A L. BERGSCHNEIDER, Assistant in Bacteriology and Public Health, leave without pay from December 1, 1943, through March 31, 1944, in order that she may visit her husband who is in the Army. E. GRETCHEN NARDINE, Editorial Assistant in the Agricultural Experiment Station, leave without pay from December 10 to 18, 1943, and from January 3 to 15, 1044, on account of a death in her immediate family.

MRS. R U T H IMOGENE MATLOCK, Secretary in the Office of the Dean of the

College of Commerce, leave without pay from January 15 through April 15, 1944, so that she may work for Dean Emeritus Charles M. Thompson during his campaign for Congress. GARNET BELLE RENAKER, Senior Clerk-Typist in the Physical Plant Department, leave with pay from December 8, 1043, through January 13, 1944, and without pay from January 14 through August 31, 1944, because of illness. MRS. CLARA D. F A Y , Assistant to the Director of Student Housing, leave without pay from December I through 31, 1943. ( M r s . F a y has previously had all the leave with pay to which she is entitled.) MRS. OLIVE GEORGE, Senior X-ray Technician in the Department of Radiology, leave with pay from October 20 through November 30, 1943, because of illness. E. TODD WHEELER, Associate Architect in the Chicago Physical Plant Department, leave without pay from July 1 through August 31, 1943, so that he might accept a professional assignment (as architect) on a contractual basis. In the following cases the individuals are eligible for disability benefits payable by the University Retirement System, so that the sick leave in each case is without pay: M R S . MARY C. WALLEN, Domestic in the W o m a n ' s Residence Hall, November 3, 1942, to September 1, 1944. M R S . A N N A O'CONNOR, Seamstress in the Sewing and Mending Service Department, May 1, 1943, to September 1, 1944.
