2. Recommendations: a. That Dean McClure's recommendation, confirmed by Miss Massoth, to discontinue the present program be approved. b. Approval of advisory service as indicated in I I I , 1, c, above. The present budgetary provisions for the Social Administration Curriculum are more than adequate for this purpose. c. As the beginning of a long-time plan, a canvass be made of candidates for the position of director, but that no appointment to such position be made for 1942-1943. PURCHASE OF PROPERTIES IN CHICAGO (17) At the meeting of the Board on July 25, 1942 (Minutes, page 38), I presented a recommendation concerning the purchase of properties in Chicago. According to the Minutes, the President of the University was requested to send complete information on this matter to the members of the Board. I submit herewith a schedule showing the status of each parcel of property it is proposed to acquire in Chicago. A copy of this schedule, with a report of the present status of land acquisitions in Chicago, was sent to each member of the Board in advance of this meeting, and an official copy is hereby given to the Secretary for record. I recommend (1) authorization of the purchase of properties and acceptance of proposals from the property owners, as recommended by the Director of the Physical Plant Department; and (2) a correction of the Minutes of the Board of June 20, 1942, pages 932-933, to show that the purchase of the properties at 920 South Wood Street and 1834 Taylor Street was authorized by the Board at that meeting. A t this point, the B o a r d w e n t into executive session and considered t h e f o l l o w i n g m a t t e r s p r e s e n t e d b y t h e P r e s i d e n t of t h e U n i v e r s i t y . RESIGNATION OF PROFESSOR LLOYD ARNOLD (18) Dr. Lloyd Arnold has submitted his resignation as Professor teriology and Public Health in the College of Medicine, effective ber 1, 1942.
