Students who complete either of these two-year curricula may obtain a certificate or they may continue with the junior-senior courses in journalism leading to the degree of Bachelor of Science. I concur in this recommendation. On motion of Mrs. Grigsby, this program was approved as recommended. GRADUATION WITH HONORS IN JOURNALISM (5) The University Senate has approved for presentation to the Board of Trustees a recommendation from the faculty of the School of Journalism that graduation with honors in Journalism be awarded according to the following regulations; F o r an average grade of not less than 4.35 in all work done in courses offered in the School and presented for the degree, graduation with honors; for an average grade of not less than 4.75, graduation with high honors. I concur in this recommendation. On motion of Mr. Jensen, this recommendation was adopted. At this point, Mr. Nickell took his place with the Board. STUDENTS' USE O F ENGLISH A N D RHETORIC REQUIREMENTS (6) The Board of Trustees on June 24, 1941 (Minutes, p. 319), approved recommendations from the University Senate designed to improve the standard of English used by the undergraduate student body both in writing and in speaking, including the following requirement:
