1942, at an annual salary of $6,000. I further recommend that he be reappointed Chairman of the Department for two years from September 1, 1943, at the same salary. This is an increase in salary of $300 a year. Incidental to these changes, I recommend that the salary of Professor C. M. Kneier of the Department of Political Science be increased from $5,700 to $6,000, effective October 1, 1942. If these changes and promotions are approved, I recommend that the necessary assignment of $600 be made from the General Reserve Fund to provide for these adjustments in the budget. LYON AS BUSINESS MANAGER OF THE ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION (5) T h e Board of Directors of the Athletic Association at a meeting on September 10 appointed Mr. C. W. Lyon, formerly Assistant to the Director of Physical Plant Department, as Business Manager of the Athletic Association, effective October 1, 1942, at an annual salary of $4,000. This appointment is subject to approval by the Board of Trustees. I recommend approval of this appointment.

On motion of Mr. Davis, this appointment was approved. The President of the University introduced Mr. Lyon.

LEAVES OF ABSENCE (6) A recommendation that the following leaves of absence be granted members of the staff for the reasons and periods and under the conditions indicated in each case: DONALD B. KEYES, Professor of Chemical Engineering, leave for four months from September 1, 1942, on half pay, for part-time service in the Chemicals Branch of the W a r Production Board. It is anticipated that P r o fessor Keyes will not be requested to spend more than two weeks each month in this work. T h e leave has been granted at the request of the W . P . B . R. W. BARTLETT, Associate Professor of Agricultural Economics, leave for the month of September, without pay, to assist the Pennsylvania W a r Board in a study of the milk distribution problems of that State. MARY R. KINNEY, Instructor in Library Science, leave without pay for the academic year 1942-1943, to accept a temporary appointment at Simmons College. H . B. DORNER, Professor of Floriculture, disability leave with pay from noon July 2 through August 7, 1942. A. W. ANDERSON, Assistant Professor of Education, disability leave with pay from September 28 through October 31, 1042. MRS. A N N LUCILLE LAIRD, Director of Nurses, extension of leave, without pay, from October 1 through December 31, 1942. A. W. ARON, Professor of German and Head of the Department, sick leave with full pay for six weeks from October 5, 1942. T h e Department will carry on his work without additional expense to the University. Leaves of Absence for War Service (The leave in each case is without pay.) L. A.
