APPROPRIATIONS FOR BUILDING ALTERATIONS (19) Funds are needed for remodeling to provide office facilities and instructional space. Some of the critical areas are: 1. Lincoln Hall—remodeling on second floor for offices for the Departments of Russian and French; the basement area for a laboratory for trip Department of Anthropology; and dividing six classrooms into smaller rooms with a classroom capacity of thirty each. Estimated

2. English Building — converting room 201 into three classroom areas. Estimated cost 22 3. Natural History Building — preparing rooms 423, 435, 431, and 432 for laboratory instruction and rooms 116 and 120 for geology classes. Estimated cost 29 4. Marker Hall — remodeling room 204 for use of one end as a general university classroom and the other as a laboratory for entomology classes. Estimated cost 3 5. Noyes Laboratory — clearance of surplus equipment and improvement of lighting so that areas may be used for offices for graduate assistants. Estimated cost 6 6. Building at 1205 West Oregon Street, Urbana-—remodeling of second floor to provide quarters for the all-University Honors Program approved by the Board of Trustees. Estimated cost 13 Total $101 Submitted with this recommendation are supporting statements explaining needs for this remodeling and the breakdown of the cost estimates. Copies being filed with the Secretary of the Board for record. The Director of the Physical Plant, the Vice-President and Comptroller, the Vice-President and Provost recommend an appropriation of $101,700 from General Reserve for these building alterations.
