Your personal leadership as State Superintendent and the programs for the improvement of elementary and secondary education developed under your direction are of enduring benefit to the schools and youth of Illinois. Your colleagues on the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois are deeply appreciative of your services on this Board, your faithful attendance, wise counsel — and especially your strong support of public higher education. The President and other administrative officers of the University and the officers of the Board desire to join the Trustees in this tribute and in extending best wishes to you and your family for the years to come. The Board directs that this resolution be made a part of the official public record of today's meeting, and that a suitable copy be given you as a permanent reminder of this occasion.
