BOARD OF TRUSTEES

[June 14

the Comptroller be authorized to work out the necessary arrangements with the Illinois Bell Telephone Company. I concur.

On motion of Mr. Swain this recommendation was approved.

AMENDMENT TO EASEMENT ACROSS ALLERTON FARMS (20) T h e Board of Trustees has authorized an easement through one of the Allerton Farms for the construction of a pipe line by the Texas Illinois Natural Gas Pipeline Company. T h e Company's name has since been changed to the People's Gulf Coast Natural Gas Pipeline Company. The easement provides that the Company has the right, upon payment of an additional $3.00 per rod, to construct a second pipe line. T h e easement covers a tract of land seventy-five feet wide. T h e pipe line does not cross University property in a straight line, but bends about 10° near the river. The Company's plans include crossing the river at a point about two hundred feet west of the existing pipe line, which will require an amendment to the present right-of-way agreement. The Dean of the College of Agriculture and Vice-President and Comptroller recommend that the right-of-way agreement be modified to provide for the location of the second pipe line within a seventy-five foot right-of-way across the west half of the southwest quarter of section fourteen, township eighteen north, range five east of the third principal meridian, north of the Sangamon River, being 37.5' on each side of the following described center line: Beginning at a point of entrance on the center line of the Sangamon River, said point being a distance of 53.6' east of the west line of section 14 measured along the center line of the river, thence in a northeast direction at an entrance angle of 78° a distance of 404.8' to a point; thence left 10° 12' in a northerly direction a distance of 2230.8' to a point of exit, said point being 336.5' east of the N W corner SW-J4 section 14, containing in all an area of 4.69 acres more or less. I concur.

On motion of Mr. Hughes, this change in the easement was authorized.

EASEMENTS TO ILLINOIS POWER COMPANY A N D ILLINOIS BELL TELEPHONE COMPANY (21) T h e Director of the Physical Plant and the Vice-President and Comptroller recommend that an easement be granted the Illinois Power Company in order to provide gas and electric service to the Orchard Downs Apartments, contracts for the construction of which are being recommended separately at today's meeting. They also recommend that an easement be granted to the Illinois Bell Telephone Company across University property at 201 West Pennsylvania Avenue, a residence used for staff housing, in order that the Company may install underground telephone cable serving properties in that area. I concur and recommend the adoption of the following resolutions: Resolution Authorizing Granting of Easement to Illinois Power Company Under and Through the Site of the Orchard D o w n s Housing Project Be It, and It Hereby Is Resolved by this Board of Trustees of T H E BOARD
