campus planning and as a consultant on various phases of the building program for several years. The current contract, which is on a cost-plus basis, expires August 1, 1900. The Director of the Physical Plant and the Vice-President and Comptroller recommend renewal of this contract for one year for the following assignments: Chicago Professional Colleges 1. Continue studies on the 1950-61 campus planning, including revision and development of programs for various college and department areas. 2. Studies on sites for Library and multi-purpose building. 3. Promotional studies for future projects on which outside financing can be anticipated. Estimated cost $15,000. Funds are available in the appropriation "Architectural Studies for Future Buildings." Urbana-Champaign 1. Completion of written report on the 1959-61 development plan. 2. Continuation of studies on the 1950-61 development plan, including revisions and the development of detailed programs for various college areas. 3. Studies on sites for an undergraduate library. 4. Promotional studies for future projects on which outside financing is anticipated. 5. Continuation and refinement of the general development plan beyond 1969. Estimated cost $19,000. Funds are available in the appropriation "Architectural Studies for Future Buildings." Housing Program, Urbana-Champaign 1. Completion of consultant work on men's residence halls, third phase ( S M 3 ) . 2. Completion of consultant work on women's residence halls, second phase (SW2). 3. Preliminary studies on future housing projects. Estimated cost $3,000. Funds are available for item 1 in the appropriation "Trust — Peabody Drive Equipment and Construction 1959C" and for items 2 and 3 in the appropriation "Future Construction Plans." Miscellaneous 1. Participation in weekly planning meetings. 2. Consultant on planning and design for building projects on which the commissions have been assigned to others. 3. Other special consultant services as requested by the Physical Plant Department. Estimated cost for item I, $7,000; for items 2 and 3, $5,000. Funds are available for item 1 in the appropriation "Architectural Studies for Future Buildings." Funds will be available for items 2 and 3 in appropriations for the specific projects on which these services are desired. Payments for these services will be based on itemized payroll costs, plus 100 per cent for the firm's overhead expenses and architect's fees, with the same hourly rate structure as in the present contract. I recommend authorization of this contract and assignments of the funds as indicated.

On motion of Mr. Swain, this contract was awarded, and assignments of funds, as recommended, were authorized, by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Clement, Mr. Harewood, Mr. Herrick, Mr. Hughes, Mr. Johnston, Mr. Swain, Mrs. Watkins, Mr. Wilkins, Mr. Williamson; no, none; absent, Mr. Stratton; not voting, Mr. Pogue.

CONTRACTS FOR MINOR BUILDING ALTERATIONS AND REPAIRS (18) The Director of the Physical Plant and the Vice-President and Comptroller recommend awards of the following cost-plus contracts for minor building alterations, repairs, and construction during the fiscal year beginning July 1, i960, the award in each case being to the lowest bidder on the basis of contractor's fees.
