The Board took up consideration of the following reports and recommendations from the President of the University.

A P P O I N T M E N T S T O T H E FACULTY ( i ) T h e following new appointments to the faculty of the rank of Assistant Professor and above, and involving tenure, have been approved since the previous meeting of t h e Board of Trustees. i. M R S . DONATELLA G. ADLER, Research Assistant Professor of Physics, for four months from February 15, i960, at a salary of $2,740 ( G ) . 2. WEBSTER AITKEN, George A. Miller Visiting Professor of Music, for the academic year 1060-61, at a salary of $11,000 ( E ) . 3. ARTHUR W . BURKS, Visiting Research Professor of Applied Mathematics, in the Digital Computer Laboratory, Graduate College, for the first semester of 1960-61, at a salary of $7,200 ( E ) . 4. JOHN M. DENNISON, Assistant Professor of Geology, on one-fourth time, and in the Division of General Studies, on three-fourths time, beginning September 1, i960, at an annual salary of $6,000 ( B ) . 5. WALTER H . H . GRANICHER, Associate Professor of Physics and of Ceramic Engineering, for four months from May 1, i960, at a salary of $4,000; beginning September 1, i960, at an annual salary of $9,000 (G, D ) . 6. BENJAMIN M. H A I R , Assistant Professor of Preventive Medicine, on 80 per cent time, beginning January 1, i960, at an annual salary of $12,000 (DY80). 7. RAYMOND E. MILLER, Visiting Assistant Professor in the Digital Computer Laboratory, Graduate College, for the first semester of 1960-61, without salary ( E ) . 8. ALFRED NISONOFF, Associate Professor of Microbiology, in the Graduate College, for t w o months from June 16, i960, at a salary of $2,666; beginning September i, i960, at an annual salary of $12,000 (G, A ) .
