the annual payment was reduced. Since then certain other changes have been suggested, and it is proposed that the sum of $1,800 a year be subscribed by the Institute for a period of about five years, to be known as ' T h e Theodore B. Sachs Research Fund' for researches in tuberculosis to be conducted by the University of Illinois College of Medicine." Minutes of September 30, 1936, page 54: " T h e Chicago Tuberculosis Institute, $424.97, to be added to the $1,375.03 in the 'Theodore B. Sachs Memorial Fund' for research work in tuberculosis. This makes a total of $1,800 which is to be used for a residentship in the College of Medicine during the year 1936-1937." T h e last is a duplication of the first report. Tobacco By-Producis and Chemical Corporation Minutes of April 27, 1939, page 302: " T h e Tobacco By-Products and Chemical Corporation, $600 for the continuation of research work on Nicotine Insecticides." Minutes of June 8, 1939, page 344: "Tobacco By-Products and Chemical Corporation, Louisville, Kentucky, agreement covering research work by the Agricultural Experiment Station in certain nicotine combinations used as insecticides, from March 1, 1939, to February 28, 1940. T h e Corporation has agreed to contribute an additional $1,243.89 for carrying on this work." T h e amount of $600 in the first report was included in the amount of $1,243.89 in the second report. George Davis Bivin Foundation Minutes of March 25, 1939, page 278: "George Davis Bivin Foundation, $274.50 for the publication of a monograph by Professor H . H . Anderson of the Department of Psychology. This is a continuation of the financial support which the Foundation has been giving to his research work." T h e monograph has been published directly by the Foundation, instead of the money being paid to the University as was originally contemplated. Social Science Research Council Minutes of April 27, 1939, page 302: " T h e Social Science Research Council, a grant-in-aid of $600 for the use of Dr. L. M. H a n k s for his research work on the Blackfoot Indian Reserve during the coming summer." This was reported as a gift to the University but was a grant made and paid directly to a member of the staff for his research work. Point Zinc Company and New Jersey Zinc Company Minutes of June 9, 1938, page 840: "New Jersey Zinc Company, agreement to continue studies on the possible relation of zinc poisoning to a fatal disease in colts for a period of one year beginning May I, 1938, with the understanding that it may be extended for an additional period under the same terms or such other terms as may be mutually agreed upon. T h e Company has agreed to contribute $1,000 for the expenses of this investigation." Minutes of September 24, 1938, page 58: " T h e Mineral Point Zinc Company, a New Jersey corporation, through its attorney, Honorable Cairo A.
