32 BOARD OF TRUSTEES [July 21 MEETING O F T H E E X E C U T I V E COMMITTEE JULY 21, 1938 A meeting of the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois was held at the Blackstone Hotel, in Chicago, at 6 o'clock p.m. (Chicago Daylight Saving Time) on Thursday, July 21, 1938. M r . O. M. K a r r a k e r and Dr. Karl A. Meyer, members of the Executive Committee, were p r e s e n t ; also President A. C. Willard, Judge Sveinbjorn Johnson, University Counsel, and Mr. H . E. Cunningham, Secretary of the Board of Trustees. In the absence in E u r o p e of the Chairman, M r . Oscar G. Mayer, Mr. K a r r a k e r was elected Chairman pro tempore. MATTERS PRESENTED BY PRESIDENT WILLARD The Executive Committee considered the following matters presented by the President of the University. MINIMUM WAGE RATES ON STUDENT CENTER BUILDING (1) T h e Federal Emergency Administration of Public W o r k s requires a certification of a resolution fixing minimum wage rates prevailing in the community in which a Public W o r k s Administration project is to be constructed. I recommend approval of the attached resolution. T h i s m a t t e r w a s discussed. D r . M e y e r offered the following resolut i o n , a n d m o v e d its a d o p t i o n . T h e r e s o l u t i o n w a s a d o p t e d b y t h e following vote: Aye, M r . K a r r a k e r , Dr. Meyer. CERTIFIED COPY OF RESOLUTION FIXING MINIMUM WAGE R A T E S O N P R O J E C T ILL. 1745-F I, H . E. Cunningham, being the duly elected, qualified, and acting Secretary of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois, do hereby certify that the following resolution was regularly passed and adopted by the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois at a regular meeting thereof held on the 21st day of July, 1938. RESOLUTION F I X I N G M I N I M U M W A G E R A T E S Whereas, a thorough investigation has been made of the hourly wage rates which are being paid in the Cities of Champaign and Urbana, Illinois, and vicinity of the locality of the proposed Student-Alumni-Faculty Center, 111. 1745-F (hereinafter referred to as "Project") to be constructed by the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois, to employees in each trade or occupation engaged in work of a nature similar to the work to be performed in the construction of said Project, and the prevailing hourly wage rates being paid in such locality to such employees for such work has been determined by contract existing between the Building Trades Council of Champaign and Urbana, Illinois, and vicinity and the Champaign County Contractors Association executed November I, 1936, and in full force and effect until February 1, 1939. as indicated by the certificate hereto attached of J. W. Dunn, Secretary of the Building Trades Council of Champaign and Urbana, Illinois, and vicinity. Now, therefore, be it resolved, by the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois, that the prevailing hourly wage rates, (i.e., the customary local wage rates) being paid in the Cities of Champaign and Urbana, Illinois, and vicinity to employees in each trade or occupation
