7. The Rockefeller Foundation, $35,000, for the period of 1939-1942, for continued support of the program in teaching and research work in Psychiatry in the College of Medicine. 8. Binks Manufacturing Company, Chicago, a spray booth and equipment, valued at $936, to the Department of Ceramic Engineering, (the spray booth alone was previously reported to the Board on February 11). 9. The American Potash Institute, $700 additional for research work on interaction of soils with potassium salts. 10. American Dry Milk Institute, additional $750 for study of mineral metabolism of children. 11. American Society of Heating and Ventilating Engineers, $525 additional for Air Conditioning Research. 12. Illinois Federation of Women's Clubs, $304 for additional research on Gynecological Cancer. 13. Nutrition Research Laboratories, $141.67 additional for Vitamin D Fund. 14. George Davis Bivin Foundation, $274.50 for the publication of a monograph by Professor H. H. Anderson of the Department of Psychology. This is a continuation of the financial support which the Foundation has been giving to his research work. 15. Eli Lilly and Company, $750 for the establishment of a research fellowship in Chemistry during the academic year 1939-1040. 16. Arthur Andersen Research and Educational Fund, $500 for the establishment of a graduate scholarship in accountancy or economics. 17. American Dry Milk Institute, $600 for the continuation of Professor F. R. Steggerda's research work on the study of calcium metabolism in the adult man. 18. Mead, Johnson, and Company of Evansville, Indiana, $1,000 for research work on the absorption, utilization, and excretion of different carbohydrates which are more or less generally used in the feeding of infants—this study to be carried on by the Pediatric Department of the College of Medicine. O n motion of Mr. Jensen, these gifts were accepted.

GIFT OF PAPERS OF CHARLES M. REMEY

(16) On February 11, I reported a gift from Mr. Charles M. Remey of a box of his reminiscences and diaries and other material on condition that the same shall not be opened until 1995. The Board declined to accept without having more information about the donor and reasons why this gift should be accepted under such conditions. The Director of the Library has requested that the Board reconsider its decision.

No action was taken on this matter.

TREASURER'S BOND

M r . K a r r a k e r reported for the Finance Committee a recommendation that the bond of the T r e a s u r e r be placed with the Lumbermen's Mutual Casualty Company at a premium of $1,875 (subject to a dividend estimated at 20 per cent, making the net cost $1,500). T h i s matter was discussed. Mrs. Plumb offered a motion that this bond be placed with an old-line company. T h e motion did not prevail. O n motion of M r . K a r r a k e r , the Comptroller was authorized to place a guarantee and indemnity bond with the Lumbermen's Mutual Casualty Company as recommended. M r s . Plumb asked to be recorded as voting in the negative on this motion. T h e Board adjourned, at 2 p.m., to meet on call of the President.
