2. Miss Martha Cunningham, stenographer in the Department of Roentgenology, leave of absence without pay from March 3 to June 1, 1939. She has been granted sick leave and vacation allowance to March 3. 3. Miss Clareta Walker, H o m e Adviser in Macoupin County, two weeks with pay from May 24, 1939, for the purpose of study. 4. Miss Jessie Campbell, H o m e Adviser in Livingston County, two weeks with pay from May 24, 1939, for the purpose of study. 5. Mrs. Constance Edmundson, junior stenographer in the College of Education, ten days from March 16, in addition to her regular sick leave allowance, on account of illness. 6. Mr. B. R. Hurt, Assistant in Agricultural Economics, three months without pay beginning April 1, 1939, in order that he may work on a research project with the United States Department of Agriculture. 7. Miss Nettie M. Roberts, University Senior Stenographer in the President's Office, sick leave with full pay for one month, or so much thereof as may be needed, in addition to the regular sick leave and vacation allowance to which she is entitled, to be distributed approximately as follows: March 27 through April 9, April 24 through May 7. O n m o t i o n of M r . C l e a r y , t h e s e l e a v e s w e r e g r a n t e d a s r e c o m mended. PURCHASE RECOMMENDED (11) A recommendation that the following purchase be authorized: V/i tons 22 x 34—40 pound 100 per cent Rag Bond y-i ton 17 x 22—13 pound 100 per cent Rag Bond 25 reams 22 x 34—32 pound 100 per cent Rag Bond all to contain watermark of University of Illinois seal, from the J. W . Butler Paper Company, the lowest bidder, at a total cost of approximately $1,400 f.o.b. Urbana.

On motion of Mr. Karraker, this purchase was authorized as recommended.

PLANS FOR NATURAL RESOURCES BUILDING (12) T h e following statement: Exterior Design.—The Board of Trustees, at its meeting on March 14, placed the responsibility for the approval of the exterior design of the Natural Resources Building on the Physical Plant Department. T h e State Architect has submitted a revised design in which are incorporated revised details of certain elements, principally the main entrance and motifs on either end of the front elevation, in the spirit of the suggestions offered by the University. Details of the rear entrance will receive further study. T h e Director of the Physical Plant Department has submitted a memorandum of understanding with the State Architect's office covering these points. A copy of this memorandum is hereby given to the Secretary of the Board for record. General Construction.—On March 14 the Board approved the plans and specifications for the general work on this building, provided that certain changes recommended by the Physical Plant Department were made therein. T h e Director of the Department reports that Items 31 and 34 of this list of changes recommended by them have been w i t h d r a w n ; the other changes recommended have been agreed to by the State Architect. Mechanical Work.—The Director of the Physical Plant Department reports that he has reached an agreement with the State Architect on the plans for the mechanical work (heating, plumbing, electrical, and elevator installations) on the Natural Resources Building. T h e Director recommends approval of these plans, subject to certain changes which the State Architect's office has agreed to make. These changes are specified in detail in a memorandum which is hereby given to the Secretary of the Board for record and future reference. T h i s report w a s received for record.
