Appointments to the Center for A d v a n c e d Study, Urbana (8) O n recommendation of the director of the Center for Advanced Study, and with the concurrence of the dean of the Graduate College, the chancellor at Urbana-Champaign has recommended the following appointments of fellows in the Center for Advanced Study for one semester of the academic year 1982-83 and for the program of research or study as indicated in each case. Fellows O . VERNON BURTON, assistant professor of history, to complete a monograph on reconstruction race relations in nineteenth-century Edgefield County, South Carolina. T. DAVID H o , assistant professor of botany, to conduct a recombinant RNA research on crop plants. HENRY P. MAGUIRE, assistant professor of art, to complete a book-length study of the relationships between early Byzantine art and literature. EDWARD J. R O Y , assistant professor of psychology, to study the mechanisms by which steroid hormones influence animal behavior. Beckman Fellows KELSEY D . COOK, assistant professor of chemistry, to pursue the development of electrohydrodynamic mass spectrometry and its applications to solution chemistry.
