Lease of Space, Reliable Building, Chicago

(14) T h e president of the University, with the concurrence of the appropriate administrative officers, recommends that the University contract with the Reliable Corporation to lease 5,600 square feet of space at the Reliable Building, 1033 West Van Buren, Chicago, for the period October 1, 1985, through September 30, 1990, to provide office space for the Pacific/Asian American Mental Health Research Center. T h e lease will be at a base rate of $44,240 per year ($7.90 per square foot), subject to an annual increase of six percent. The lessor will construct and pay for all tenant improvements as specified in the lessor's current plans and specifications and deliver possession to the tenant. T h e University will pay as additional rental increases in the cost of taxes and sprinkler supervisory service based on the percentage of total building space occupied. T h e Pacific/Asian American Center is presently housed in space inadequate for its needs. A search failed to identify any available University-owned space to house this unit. Funds are included in the Fiscal Year 1986 appropriated funds budget of the Chicago Physical Plant. The funds for future years are anticipated from the same source, and the lease is subject to the annual appropriation of funds. O n m o t i o n of M r s . Purchases

(15) The president submitted, with his concurrence, a list of purchases recommended by the directors of purchases and the vice president for business and finance. T h e purchases were presented in one category — purchases from institutional funds. T h e term designates funds received by the University under contracts with the United States government, private corporations, and other organizations; grants from foundations, corporations, and other donors; and University revolving funds authorized by law. The total amount of these purchases from institutional funds was $1,576,399.87.
