Grudek vs. Siegel, et of. A structured settlement, of approximately $700,000, has been made. T h e University is responsible for the first $100,000. Anthony Wade vs. Lynn, et a/. T w o agreements had been made, pursuant to board authorization in July 1985, providing for the maintenance of Mr. Wade and for the direct payment of all such maintenance cost by the insurance carrier, the Insurance Company of Ireland ( I C I ) , following the expenditure of the first $100,000 by the University. Mr. Higgins also advised the board that the plaintiff had declined an offer by I C I to settle the case for a lump-sum payment of $2 million. I C I has notified the University that it intends to commence a complaint for a declaratory judgment to the effect that the Circuit Court lacks jurisdiction over the University and the individually named doctors on the faculty of that University, that exclusive jurisdiction resides in the Court of Claims. Corey Jackson vs. Yagan, et a/. T h e university counsel reviewed the details of this claim to familiarize the board with the facts and the liability exposure. Report, Status of Searches President Ikenberry and Chancellor Everhart then reviewed the status of search efforts for a number of senior officers, in particular for the positions of chief executive officer of the University of Illinois Foundation, and for the vice chancellor for academic affairs and vice chancellor for research at Urbana.
