Purchases (22) The president submitted, with his concurrence, a list of purchases recommended by the directors of purchases and the vice president for business and finance. The purchases were presented in two categories: purchases from appropriated funds (i.e., from State appropriations to the University); and purchases from institutional funds. The latter term designates funds received by the University under contracts with the United States government, private corporations, and other organizations; grants from foundations, corporations, and other donors; and University revolving funds authorized by law. A complete list of the purchases, with supporting information (including the quotations received), was sent to each member of the board in advance of the meeting. A copy is being filed with the secretary of the board for record. On motion of Miss Smith, the purchases recommended were authorized by the following vote: Aye, Mr. Forsyth, Mrs. Gravenhorst, Mr. H a h n , Mr. Howard, M r . Logan, Mrs. Shepherd, Miss Smith; no, none; absent, M r . Wolff, Governor Thompson. (Mrs. Calder voted in favor of the majority of items but asked to be recorded as voting against nine: those having to do with duplicating and computer maintenance. Her view was, that in the current budget situation, such purchases were not appropriate. M r . Logan asked to be recorded as abstaining on item no. 41.) Comptroller's Monthly Report of Contracts Executed (23) The comptroller submitted the June 1988 report of contracts. The report included contractural agreements for payments to the University and contracts in amounts up to $50,000, to be paid by the University. A copy of this report is filed with the secretary. Comptroller's Report of Investment Transactions through M a y 15,1988 (24) T h e comptroller presented the above report which includes transactions under Finance and Audit Committee guidelines and transactions under the comptroller's authority. A copy of this report is filed with the secretary of the board. O n m o t i o n of Miss S m i t h , this r e p o r t w a s a p p r o v e d as p r e s e n t e d . SECRETARY'S REPORT The secretary presented for record appointments to the faculty and changes of status m a d e by the president, resignations, terminations, leaves of absence, and retirements. A copy of the report is filed with the secretary.
