456 BOARD OF TRUSTEES [January 7 On motion of Miss Smith, the foregoing resolution was adopted by the following vote: Aye, Mrs. Calder, Mr. Forsyth, Mrs. Gravenhorst, Mr. Hahn, Mr. Howard, Mr. Logan, Mrs. Shepherd, Miss Smith, Mr. Wolff; no, none; absent, Governor Thompson. (The student advisory vote was: Aye, Mr. Evenson, Mr. Wylie; no, none.) Purchases (25) T h e president submitted, with his concurrence, a list of purchases recommended by the directors of purchases and the vice president for business and finance. The purchases were presented in one category — purchases from institutional funds. T h e term designates funds received by the University under contracts with the United States government, private corporations, and other organizations; grants from foundations, corporations, and other donors; and University revolving funds authorized by law. T h e total amount of these purchases from institutional funds was $2,475,978.44. A complete list of the purchases, with supporting information (including the quotations received), was sent to each member of the board in advance of the meeting. A copy is being filed with the secretary of the board for record. The report included contractual agreements for payments to the University and contracts in amounts up to $50,000, to be paid by the University. A copy of this report is filed with the secretary. T h i s r e p o r t w a s r e c e i v e d for r e c o r d . Comptroller's Report of Investment Transactions through December 1 5 , 1 9 8 7 (27) T h e comptroller presented the above report which includes transactions under Finance and Audit Committee guidelines and transactions under the comptroller's authority. A copy of this report is filed with the secretary of the board. On motion of Miss Smith, this report was approved as presented. Contracts, Staff Apartments Building, Chicago (28) T h e president of the University, with the concurrence of the appropriate administrative officers, recommends award of the following contracts for remodeling the Staff Apartments Building (809 South Marshfield), Chicago. T h e award in each case is to the lowest base bidder plus acceptance of the indicated alternates. 1 1 A schedule of the alternates is filed with the secretary of the board for record.
